Our Story

Mountain View Optometry was created by Dr. Tom Wilk and Dr. Michele Naruszewicz – husband and wife who met in optometry school. During their internships as well as a trip they shared to Honduras to provide voluntary eye care services, they became aware of an unmet need among health care consumers. Their patients were appreciative of their caring and detailed approach, feeling they were finally being listened to, and no longer felt like “just a number”.

Following graduation, Michele and Tom ended up in Alberta working for a large optical company. They soon felt at home thanks to the friendly people, outdoor recreation and promising business opportunities. Two years later they formulated the concept that would be the basis for their new business model. Their vision was to combine excellence in eye care with a strong set of values and sense of purpose, and create a place that people looked forward to visiting whether they were customers, patients or employees. They set up the Cochrane eye clinic location in a 630 square foot space and one employee. Building off the success in Cochrane office they built their second location in Crowfoot in 2008.

Today Dr’s Naruszewicz and Wilk employ over thirty people and together with their team of doctors and staff have helped thousands of patients over the years improve their vision and protect their eyes using the latest eye care technology.

The team looks forward to partnering with you for a lifetime of clear vision and healthy eyes.

Our Approach

Hearing from You

What problems or concerns are you having about your eyes and your vision? How do you use your eyes on a daily basis? What risk factors may exist in your occupation or hobbies? ALSO -what is important to you -how do YOU make decisions about your health? Are glasses, contacts or laser corrective surgery more appealing to you? What about vision therapy, Advanced dry eye treatment Mountain View Optometry or Nutraceuticals? We take a detailed input history which helps us get to know you and your needs so we may prescribe the right solutions.

The Tests

We are constantly investing in new technology to test your eyes as efficiently and accurately as possible. Up to three different methods are used to derive the most accurate glasses or contact lens prescription. We also evaluate your focusing and eye muscle coordination – even small problems here can impact your ability to read or use electronic screens without adverse symptoms. In most cases our laser imaging technology means we need to dilate your pupils less often. And…we’ve done away with the annoying “air puff” pressure test!

What are the best options for your eyes at work, at home, and at play? What type of lens will perform when you most need it to? Are there newer treatments or steps you can take to proactively maintain your health or prevent further damage? Our doctors are careful to assign enough time during your visit to address all relevant issues and answer any questions you may have.
