A campaign by Prevent Blindness has been launched to educate on the importance of properly diagnosing and treating dry eye disease. Few people are aware that dry eye disease may lead to vision problems in the most severe cases. Early detection and management are the keys to slowing down the progress of dry eye disease and improving symptoms. Risk factors for dry eye disease include: Frequent use of digital devices (phones, tablets, computers) Medications History of eye surgery (LASIK, cataract surgery, and others) Living in a dry climate Contact lens wear Age (dry eye worsens with increasing age) Medications and medical conditions (diabetes, arthritis, auto-immune conditions Skin conditions such as rosacea Inflammatory conditions of the eyelids Fortunately, we have many therapy options for dry eye disease.
