A SAFE EYE DROP TO “GET THE RED OUT”

Chronic red or bloodshot eyes are a frequent source of anxiety for many of our patients. Using over the counter medicated eye drops that promise to relieve red eyes can help, but typically our optometrists have advised to use these drops sparingly. One reason is that chronic red eyes may be a symptom of a problem such as dry eye disease, or infections/inflammations – an eye examination is necessary to find out if there is a need to treat a more serious problem instead of just the redness symptom. The other reason is that decongestant eye drops, when used long-term, have actually been shown to cause a rebound effect resulting in eye redness even worse than before, and their effects have also been known to fade over time.

LUMIFY® works differently than traditional medicated eye drops by selectively reducing eye redness, thereby carrying a much lower risk of unwanted side effects. Our optometrists plan to prescribe it for our patients in conjunction with other therapies for redness related to eye fatigue, dryness or allergies.

LUMIFY® will be available at both our MVO locations soon!
