The Easiest Glasses to Clean? How ZEISS CleanGuard Keeps Lenses Clearer for Longer

July 8, 2026

Ask anyone who wears glasses and they are most likely to tell you the same thing: lenses never seem to stay clean for very long. Fingerprints, dust, facial oils, and water spots are part of everyday life, especially for those who wear their glasses all day. ZEISS CleanGuard makes use of new technology to address this familiar problem.

So What's Different?

The goal of Zeiss CleanGuard is straightforward: make lenses easier to clean and help them stay that way. The coating improves resistance to fingerprints and oils, helps water bead off the lens surface more easily, and reduces the amount of dust buildup. These features also enable lenses with CleanGuard technology to be cleaned up to three times faster.

Is It Worth It?

Constant smudging on lenses is one of the top complaints reported by those of us who wear glasses daily. It impacts how we see, and how our eyes look when viewed by others. The time taken to remove our glasses and clean lenses, often several times per day, can be significant. This feedback resulted in the Zeiss CleanGuard innovation.
