YOUR EYE EXAM: WHAT TO EXPECT

A woman is getting her eyes examined by an ophthalmologist

Proper eye care starts with an annual eye examination by a Doctor of Optometry.  If you’ve had your eyes tested At Mountain View Optometry, you know we do things a little differently.

Our Mission is to protect and enhance your vision through compassionate care.  Here’s a quick summary of what you’ll experience at your next visit.

  1. Detailed vision and health history

Our staff and doctors will take great care to ensure we ask all relevant questions about your health, medications, your main concerns and any issues with your vision or eye health you would like addressed.  This is about you – no detail is insignificant!

(exclusive technology to Mountain View Optometry – not available anywhere else in NW Calgary or Cochrane)  This exciting new technology helps us write prescriptions that are up to 5 times more accurate than traditional examination methods!  BOTTOM LINE:  you’ll see as clearly as you possibly can and, most likely, better than you’ve ever seen before.

This safe ultra-widefield imaging technique captures up to 80% of your retina in one panoramic image while traditional testing methods only see about 15%.  Why is this important?  Many diseases of the eye have no symptoms until later stages.  We want to know what it looks like back there!  If we see any potential problems or risk factors, we’ll discuss them with you and likely have you return for further testing.

  1. Expert Eye Wear Consultation

Did you know that only 50% of the vision you get with your glasses comes from the Doctor’s prescription?  The other 50% has to do with the lenses we put it in (glasses or contact lenses).  There have been huge advances in technology and we now have more options than ever.  It’s no longer just “single vision or progressives”.  Let’s make sure you know about everything available to you.  We will give you a customized solution based on our test results.
