Mountain View Optometry First Practice in Southern Alberta to Offer i.Scription Wavefront Technology

October 6, 2012

Wavefront technology has been used in laser corrective surgery procedures for a few years. Now, we are using it at Mountain View Optometry to give our patients more accurate eyewear prescriptions than they’ve ever had before.

How does it work?

First, our technicians measure your eyes with the Zeiss i.Profiler Plus . It’s fully automated and it only takes a few seconds.

A woman is getting her eyes checked by an ophthalmologist.

This equipment measures 1,500 data points that trace the path of light as it enters your eye. Your exact optical “fingerprint” is measured at various pupil sizes.

A computer is sitting on a table next to a machine that says ct on it.

The information is transmitted to the exam room, where your optometrist will evaluate the data, run some tests and confirm your new wavefront prescription (your i.Scription).

Your new eyeglass prescription is generated in 1/100th of a Diopter steps – greatly improved accuracy vs the traditional ¼ Diopter values.

In many cases the i.Scription differs significantly from what traditional testing methods would generate. The new values have provided many of our patients with improved color contrast, better night vision and sharper overall vision than they’ve ever had before.
