HYPOCHLOROUS SPRAY FOR DRY EYE

We have been waiting for this product to be approved in Canada due to the benefits it provides for our patients with certain types of dry eye disease. Hypochlorous (HOCL for short) is produced naturally by our bodies to help fight infection. One of the hallmarks of dry eye disease is that people with this condition typically have more bacteria in and around their eyes, eyelids and eyelashes. The bacteria can be difficult to control, leading to a breakdown in the quality of tears produced and worsening dry eye symptoms.

Eyelash scrubs are commonly prescribed by our doctors to help control bacterial load in dry eye disease. For many, depending on the specific condition we will also add in HOCL twice daily. This keeps our natural defense mechanisms high, our eyelids and lashes clean and improves the health and quality of our tears.

I-Lid ‘N Lash® HOCL Cleansing Spray is a water-based, natural and non-toxic cleanser to improve eye hygiene. It’s safe and gentle for daily use, even with sensitive skin. There are no additives, alcohol, oil, sulfates, parabens or fragrance added. Spray over closed eyelids and allow to dry twice daily. If you suffer from dry and irritated eyes, be sure to book an appointment at Cochrane or at Crowfoot/Calgary and we can introduce you to a variety of new treatments that can help.
