EnChroma Glasses: See Colour Like Never Before

March 18, 2026

“Red-green colour blindness” is the most common colour vision deficiency. Its name is misleading – complete colour blindness is rare. But those of you who live with red-green colour blindness, know how challenging it can be to see colours differently than others. But what if you could actually change the way you see the world?

Enchroma are specialized glasses that can improve colour perception for those with red-green colour deficiency. At our Calgary clinic, we offer guided EnChroma consultations that let you experience the effect for yourself, starting with a personalized in-office test and followed by a real-world trial.

What Is an EnChroma Consultation?

Our EnChroma consultation is a step-by-step experience designed to help determine if these specialized glasses can improve your colour vision. It's informative, non-invasive, and tailored to your unique type of colour blindness.

How the Process Works

Step 1: Online Colour Vision Test

Color blindness test shows the number 9 in a circle of colored dots.

We begin by administering the official EnChroma colour vision test on the EnChroma website. This will define the specific type and degree of your colour vision processing difficulty.

Step 2: Testing With EnChroma Glasses

Three pairs of enchroma sunglasses with different lens colors on a white surface.

Based on your individual test results, we select the specific EnChroma lens type that best matches your needs. You’ll retake the same colour test while wearing the EnChroma glasses, giving you an immediate side-by-side comparison of how much colour enhancement they may offer.

Step 3: Take-Home Trial (Try Before You Buy)

Results for Deutan color blindness: Green cone response at 0% without glasses, 75% with EnChroma glasses.

If the glasses show promising results, you’ll have the option to rent a pair for a few days. This is a key part of the process: your brain needs time to adjust and form new visual pathways. A longer trial allows you to experience the full benefits in your day-to-day life, whether you're outdoors, at work, or just enjoying a movie.

Why Try EnChroma Glasses?

EnChroma glasses are uniquely designed for people with red-green colour blindness. They use advanced optical filtering to reduce the overlap between red and green wavelengths, which is what causes much of the colour confusion. As a result, colours appear more vivid, distinct, and true-to-life.

What You Gain from the Consultation:

  • Tailored Lens Selection: Your EnChroma test results guide us to the ideal lens type for your specific colour vision needs.
  • Immediate Visual Comparison: You get instant insight by repeating the colour vision test with the glasses on - many appreciate an immediate improvement
  • Trial Experience: Taking the Enchroma glasses home for several days allows your brain time to adapt and lets you evaluate the glasses in your natural routines and lighting conditions.
  • Confidence in Your Decision: As results will vary depending on the extent of the colour vision deficiency, the consultation and trial period enables you to see the difference for yourself.
