QUICK, WORK-READY GUIDE TO UNCLOGGING MEIBOMIAN GLANDS
If your eyes feel dry or gritty from prolonged screen time, you may have clogged
meibomian glands . Here’s a concise, workplace-friendly plan to help manage this common problem.

What to do, daily
- Warm compress (5–7 minutes, morning and evening): The best solution is a ready-made heat mask to soften the oil. We have had the most success with the UMAY rechargeable heat mask.
- Gentle lid hygiene (2 minutes): Use an approved eyelid hygiene wipe such as Blephaclean; wipe along eyelid margins with a clean pad, then rinse.
- Blink breaks: Follow the 20-20-20 rule—every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away and blink fully for 2–3 seconds.
- Lubricate as needed: Use preservative-free artificial tears during the day. Avoid decongestant drops for routine use.
