VISION MATTERS IN SPORTS – PART 2: SPECIALTY SPORT EYE WEAR

With summer finally arriving (we hope), we would like to remind everyone of some of the less thought about items that we have to offer for people who wear prescription eyewear – especially the activity-specific options which are available from both our Cochrane and Crowfoot locations.

First, let us talk about the sport specific frames that we have. These frames are available for both children and adults and make a great alternative to wearing normal prescription eyeglasses during sports that would normally put your eyes in danger. Being specifically designed for sport use these frames can withstand impact of a ball straight to the face (soccer), be worn under a helmet (football or hockey) or just stay on during rigorous activity providing you with protection and the correct prescription. Specially designed edges and lenses made from the latest materials mean you never need to worry about a direct impact resulting in damage to your eyes or broken lenses. We highly recommend these for people who are actively engaged in sports and are looking for a more appropriate option to replace their normal eyeglasses.

Have you ever gone on vacation and signed up for a diving trip, but realized too late that you wouldn’t be able to wear your eyeglasses under the dive mask? Or wanted to go swimming but since you cannot see without your glasses, you dove in wearing them and resulting in loss or damage? We are happy to share the solution to these problems.

For those who are looking for a diving/snorkeling, solution we offer prescription dive masks. Our masks offer the ability for you to use the included prescription adaptor to add your prescription for those who need it, or remove it and have a great dive mask for those who do not. These great masks are available in adult and children’s sizes, as well as different colors. For those looking for swim goggles, you may not have known that we do offer prescription swim goggles that are available in just about any prescription; including those with astigmatism. We offer these in different colors, with three different bridge sizes to accommodate any fit. These goggles are custom ordered but take only seven to ten days to arrive.

Generally we do not want to think too much about winter at the beginning of the summer, but we want to remind you that we also do custom ski goggles that are compatible with virtually any prescription.

Maintaining your vision needs while providing excellent protection and function allows for even more reasons for you to go out and enjoy the nice weather while it is here.
